2024 - present: B.S. in Marine Science, University of Hawai’i at Hilo
It all started when…
I grew up in central Indiana, where I was raised and educated close to nature. Being in a landlocked state, the ocean didn’t play a major role in my childhood, but I couldn’t help but be fascinated by it. This eventually led me to pursue a B.S. in Marine Science at the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo. I am especially interested in marine parasitology and recently had the opportunity to assist Dr. Paul Sikkel’s lab with a gnathiid isopod project in the central Philippines.
My research...
I am currently conducting research on gnathiid species diversity and abundance in Hilo Bay. I hope to contribute to a greater understanding of how parasite-host interactions shape the community structure of the reefs of East Hawaiʻi.
