Beachy farewell + welcome!

We recently celebrated Eva’s departure back to Spain and Andrew’s arrival as a new Ph.D. student with a sunset pau hana…we will miss Eva and are glad to have Andrew on the team!

Among other things, Eva used her theoretical physicist superhero skills to create an agent-based model of reef halos based on clonal seagrass growth. In the process, she solved the mystery of why we sometimes see ‘corridors’ form between adjacent halos! For details, stand by for her publication on that, currently in review…

Andrew is looking forward to working with both global-scale and local-scale fisheries datasets to understand, among other things, how we can best balance the needs of humans and ecosystems through MPAs and other tools. Stay tuned!
